James Mawbey-Shaw
Head of Property
James qualified as a solicitor in 2008 after pursuing a training contract with Wilsons. He relishes being part of a busy team that always strives for 100% client satisfaction. James leads the property team by example and delivers a professional service while still meeting the tight deadlines his team are faced with. Outside of work, James enjoys fell walking and reading.
Simon Pass
Head of Legal
Simon joined Wilsons in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in 1999. His vast experience helping achieve positive outcomes for his clients is a valuable tool as he always looking to impart his wisdom on to others. Simon’s success as a solicitor is down to solid, consistent communication and hard work in addition to being attentive and understanding to clients. Work aside, Simon is a keen sports fan and loves to watch live sport whenever possible.
Roxanne Denton
Office Manager & Solicitor
Roxanne is a conveyancing solicitor and Office Manager at our Whitkirk branch. Her background is varied as she initially achieved a business and marketing degree before deciding to do a law conversion to become a solicitor. Roxanne gets no greater pleasure than helping clients complete their property transactions.
Oliver Taman
Office Manager & Solicitor
Oliver manages our Whitkirk office and is a senior member of the conveyancing team. Oliver completed his training contract with Wilsons, qualifying as a solicitor in 2017 and has been with us ever since. He gets a huge amount of satisfaction from helping clients through what is often a stressful time for them, guiding them through a property transaction in a timely manner and always maintaining consistent communication.
Danielle Harps (LLM)
Senior Private Client Solicitor
Danielle completed her Integrated Masters in Law at Huddersfield University in 2012 and obtained a training contract with Wilsons in 2013. She eventually qualified as a solicitor in 2015. Danielle advises clients on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and also Probate matters, providing a clear solution and advice to clients. As a senior, Danielle also supports our trainees with their learning and development, and also provide support to our newly qualified Solicitors.
Bethany Brearley
Senior Property Lawyer
Bethany re-joined Wilsons Solicitors as a Senior Property Lawyer in 2024 after leaving earlier on in the year. Bethany has worked in conveyancing since 2017 as has gained a lot of valuable experience in dealing with transactions. As part of her role, Bethany deals with all aspects of the property transaction from start to finish.
Hasan Ashraf
Property Lawyer
Hasan graduated in 2022 with an LLB in Law before joining Wilsons Solicitors as a property lawyer. Within his role, Hasan helps clients buy and sell property by managing the legal process from start to finish. As part of this, Hasan makes sure everything runs smoothly, meeting all deadlines and keeping paperwork accurate. Hasan works closely with clients, estate agents and others to make sure everyone is kept up-to-date at every stage of the transaction.
Michelle Gill
Property Lawyer
Michelle has over 30 years of experience in residential conveyancing, first, dealing with it under Scottish law and then English law from 1992. Over her career, Michelle has covered most if not all areas of residential conveyancing, which is what she deals with at Wilsons Solicitors. She also has experience in some commercial conveyancing. Within this she covers, plot sales, part exchange property buy ins and resales, auction sale and purchase packs, shared ownership, equity transfers and remortgage transactions.
Kayleigh Hilton
Property Lawyer
Kayleigh has been in the legal industry for the last 3 years working within litigation and housing disrepair. During this time, Kayleigh was awarded the highest significant achiever for her first-class law degree in 2021, and a distinction in her legal practice course/masters in 2024. Kayleigh is also currently working towards qualification in 2025. In her role, Kayleigh deals with both sale and purchase transactions in the conveyancing department.
Lois Calder
Solicitor
Lois qualified in April 2022 and has over three years of experience within residential conveyancing and works predominantly on purchases for repeat investor clients. Lois thrives in a fast-paced environment and uses this to her advantage in quickly and effectively turning around purchases. Outside of work, Lois loves going to see live music, trying new restaurants and taking her dog on scenic walks.
Jack Tennant
Solicitor
Jack’s main focus is assisting business clients fulfill their business needs. Whether that be purchasing new commercial property, renewing or starting a new lease, or buying or selling a business – Jack has got you covered. He prides himself on providing businesses with effective, efficient legal advice as their business needs change. Jack qualified as a solicitor in November 2022 after completing his LPC with the University of Law in 2020.
Rose Kriens
Trainee Solicitor
Rose works both independently and as part of a team as part of her role. Her experience in residential conveyancing and private client law has shown her the importance of working in a highly organised manner that’s required in order to produce high quality results – something she consistently achieves. Since obtaining her First Class law degree in 2023, Rose is now completing the LPC LLM to obtain a Masters Degree in law. The most important part of Rose’s role is organisation and attention to detail as it allows her clients to be 100% satisfied.
Rachael Birkenshaw
Trainee Solicitor
Rachael works predominantly in the conveyancing team, helping her colleagues complete sales as efficiently as possible. After graduating in 2020, Rachael went on to find employment at Wilsons in 2021 where she has started studying her LPC and has successfully obtained a Training Contract. Rachael gets great satisfaction through helping clients with the sale of their property and hopes that her desire to help others makes the process as stress-free as possible.
Leanna Thorpe
Private Client Lawyer
Leanna is a private client lawyer at the Baildon branch. Leanna graduated with an LLB (Hons) 2:1 degree from Bradford University School of Management in 2009. Her legal education continued with studies at the BPP Law School for the LPC between 2009 and 2011. Leanna’s commitment to helping others at Wilsons to develop is a huge asset. Her knowledge and experience is something hugely valuable when providing mentorship for her colleagues. Outside of work, Leanna loves attending festivals and camping in her VW Camper Van, Daisy! She also enjoys collecting vintage furniture and clothing.
Alicia Ingle
Legal Assistant
Alicia is a Legal Assistant at the Whitkirk office and has worked at Wilsons full time since 2022. Her role is extremely varied as she assists with areas of work such as drafting probate forms and applications, drafting LPA applications, assisting with conveyancing matters and much more. Alicia is aiming to complete her LLB Law (Hons) degree in June 2024 followed by her SQE, highlighting her ambitions of becoming a solicitor so she can continue to provide further support to our clients. Outside of work, Alicia enjoys travelling, hiking and regularly visiting her family cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. She also volunteers at Age UK as a befriender, spending 1-2 hours a week visiting an elderly person for a chat.
Conor Gribben
Legal Assistant
Conor started in the legal industry in March 2024 after numerous jobs since 2014. Since March, Conor has learnt many different processes and how to best approach them. Conor’s job involves assisting everyone in the Horsforth office with their day-to-day tasks and any other bits required. Conor engages with clients on a regular basis, both face to face and over the phone to maintain good relationships and keeping their best interests at the forefront at everything he does. Away from work, Conor enjoys being outdoors in nature and going for long walks.
Kyla Sheehan
Conveyancing Legal Assistant
Kyla is a conveyancing legal assistant at the Horsforth office and has been with us at Wilsons Solicitors since September 2024. Before joining, Kyla completed her A-Levels in 2021, obtaining 3 A’s. She then went on the attend the University of Leeds from September 2021 to June 2024, where she studied law, achieving a 2:1. As part of Kyla’s role, she provides admin support to fee earners to assist the progression of conveyancing transactions while also continuing her training within conveyancing. Outside of work, Kyla enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym and also spending time with her friends.
Tracy Ambler
Legal Assistant
Tracy has a detailed knowledge of Private Client Wills and Probate and conveyancing which she uses to help clients. She’s now been with the company for four and a half years and her strong personal skills have brought many returning clients back to Wilson’s. Tracy’s friendly, knowledgeable and approachable nature makes her a huge asset to the team and helps maintain strong client relationships. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family.
Jack Lacy
Conveyancing Legal Assistant
Jack completed his LLB in 2024 and started his legal career as a conveyancing legal assistant in the same year. Jacks role ensures that their transactions are processed correctly, reducing the risk of delays or legal issues. This contributes to a smoother, more transparent experience during what can be a complex and emotional process. With Jacks support, property lawyers can handle a higher volume of cases and provide more attentive service to clients, improving overall efficiency and client satisfaction.
Luke Waldron
Conveyancing Legal Assistant
Luke completed his LLB and graduated from the University of York in 2024 before joining Wilsons Solicitors as a conveyancing legal assistant. Within his role as legal assistant, Luke helps smooth out the conveyancing process by effectively communicating with clients and thorough maintenance of case files. He also assists solicitors in their workloads in order to provide a quality service.
Jack Johnson
Trainee Conveyancer
Jack has worked in the legal sector for over three years and is currently studying the CLC Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing while handling his own small caseload. Jack ensures that all clients are treated with kindness and takes pride in providing a quality service to all clients to make their property transactions as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Carol Greaves
Receptionist
As the main point of contact for clients, Carol takes great pleasure in greeting clients to the office as the Receptionist. Her role is extremely varied and involves dealing with telephone queries, transferring calls and dealing with incoming and outgoing post – ultimately ensuring the office is running smoothly. Carol enjoys her role and understands that her duties are essential in supporting what her colleagues are doing. Carol loves reading, doing jigsaws and spending time with her family. She’s also a keen rugby fan and is a season ticket holder for the Leeds Rhinos.
Anne Shaw
Legal Assistant
Anne is a Legal Assistant in the conveyancing department and has been at Wilsons for over 20 years. She provides a professional and efficient service to clients, acting quickly and decisively to help move their property transaction along. Her personal interest include walking, swimming and fashion.
Eddie Pass
Graduate Private Client Legal Assistant
Having always been interested in a career in aw Eddie joined Wilsons Solicitors as a graduate private client legal assistant after achieving a first class degree in politics, philosophy and economics from the University of Manchester in 2024. Eddie also has previous work experience at Wilsons Solicitors. As part of his role, Eddie assists fee earners in meeting clients as well as preparing legal documents. He also performs general office duties and admin tasks to keep efficiency of the office at a high while always providing a helpful and positive attitude.
Fiona Taylor
Receptionist
Fiona’s main responsibility is greeting clients into the office and handling any incoming communications. She is also responsible for booking appointments with clients, liaising estate agents and doing post-completion, among other things. Fiona’s infections enthusiasm and friendly nature creates a welcoming atmosphere to our office and she takes great pleasure interacting with clients. As an avid music lover, Fiona goes to see live music whenever she can as well as going to the gym, going camping and spending time with her granddaughter. She’s also a huge Leeds United fan and has been her whole life.
Lynda Wrigglesworth
Legal Secretary and Post Completion
Lynda supports James Mawbey-Shaw by handling all post-completion. She’s been with Wilsons for over 10 years and has experiences dealing with Land Registry applications and Management Companies. Lynda’s experience as a Legal Secretary allows her to provide a high-level of support in a variety of areas, making her a multi-faceted and valuable member of the team. Her compassionate and human approach to her role helps her achieve outcomes quickly and efficiently. Lynda loves reading, knitting, gardening and walking her tiny Dachsund x Jack Russell.
Donna Duggan
Legal Secretary
Donna is James Mawbey-Shaw’s direct secretary, assisting him in the day-to-day handling of our client’s purchases. Having started with Wilsons in 2006, Donna has established herself as an experienced member of the team who’s able to work in an efficient manner to support our clients. She loves being able to help people through the big moments in their life, such as buying or selling property.
Mandy Knaggs
Accounts
Mandy is a member of our Accounts team and deals with all transactions coming in and out of clients accounts, processing card payments for all branches, posting all disbursements and much more. With over 20 years experience working in Insurance, Mandy came to Wilsons as a receptionist before taking the opportunity to learn the banking role. She then took a permanent role on the Accounts team in 2021. Mandy’s attention to detail makes her ideal as a member of the Accounts team – she finds great satisfaction in ensuring all accounts are correct and balanced. Away from work, Mandy enjoys cooking, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
Christopher Riley
Accounts
Christopher is responsible for ensuring all incoming payments are allocated to the correct case and all outgoing payments are sent. His experience in accounting means Christopher works with exceptional attention to detail and ensures all payments are handled with the same amount of care and attention. In his spare time, Christopher follows a range of sports, including rugby league, football and darts.
Angie Hyde
Receptionist and Administration Support
Angie is the receptionist at the Horsforth office, acting as the first point of contact for Wilsons clients there. She offers administrative support to the solicitors in Horsforth and handles the booking and organisation of client appointments. Angie prides herself on providing a welcoming, friendly and professional service to all who come to the office. Outside of work, Angie regularly attends gigs in Leeds and Manchester, and is also learning to tap dance.
